About us

About The Endeavour School

The Endeavour is a special school for children aged between 5 and 16. We are a school that places the child at the centre of everything we do. Our philosophy is that learning is a partnership of discovery involving the school, pupils, parents, and the wider community. It is through this philosophy that we seek to develop the intellectual, physical, moral and social potential of every pupil in the school. Our curriculum is designed to be well balanced, but at the same time addressing the individual needs of the child. The pupils are encouraged to become responsible and confident citizens, able to effectively express their needs, thoughts and feelings and respond appropriately to the demands of living in the community. It is our sincere aim that pupils will feel valued and in turn will value themselves and others.

Our Ethos

Why come to The Endeavour School?

We believe that learning is a partnership of discovery and we are dedicated to achieving this. All of our staff are committed to providing our pupils with the best care and education possible. To achieve this it is important that we work closely with our pupils and parents and that the child is at the centre of what we do.
A major part of our curriculum are 'community visits'. The aim of the visits are for pupils to explore and be part of their local community. Activities could range from walking to the local station, purchasing a ticket and travelling on the train; travelling to a local supermarket to purchase the ingredients needed for food tech; participating in local community projects; visiting and carrying out projects in local parks or historic monuments. The outcome of the 'community visits' is that all pupils who leave The Endeavour at the end of year 11 are better equipped to cope with the challenges of the outside world.
The Endeavour is proud to provide our pupils with fantastic facilities. We are lucky enough to have a dedicated science lab allowing scientific experimentation to play a large part of the curriculum. Our well-equipped food technology room provides opportunities to develop pupils cooking skills and deepen their understanding of nutrition and healthy living. The view from the food technology window across our allotment plot means the food journey from “fork to fork” is a real learning experience. Our Design Technology room was refurbished in Summer 2016, to allow pupils to work to their full potential. Modern lives are dominated by technology and advances in technology, we have embraced this here at The Endeavour ensuring that our pupils have access to a dedicated computer suite. This is supplemented by all classrooms being fitted with computers for the pupils to use, as well as a class set of iPads that are used throughout the school. In September 2015 we opened a new sensory room that provides our pupils with a place of calm and creative learning. Being able to address the sensory needs of our pupils is important to us here at The Endeavour that is why we invested in an outdoor sensory trail. We encourage education outside of the traditional classroom. We have an artificial surface on our playground and an outdoor classroom to provide facilities for lessons to take place outside.
